How to enhance your communication skills?

You can enhance your communication skills by following some points below.

1. First of all get rid of your fear. You are unique and so are your skills. Most of the time people fear speaking in front of people and on stage. So try not to think of it and take it lightly and focus on your strengths.

2. Practice a lot. Practice in front of Mirror. If you are giving a presentation, revise and rehearse in front of mirror. Ask your friends and relatives to listen to you and give feedback. Improvise on it.

3. If you are going to face an interview, try to make a note of all possible questions, do some research, and create some sample answers. Do not learn them, just keep points handy on which you can talk comfortably and easily.

4. Ask your friends to take mock interviews.

5. Read a lot. Read newspapers, books, magazines. Find tough and new words, keep a dictionary handy and note down word and meaning. Revise in next few days.

6. You can practice english vocabulary on http://www.complore.com/word-power-made-easy

Practice these points and you should see a marked improvement in your communication skills.

CAT 2009 Date Extended till 8th December 2009

Prometric and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) have extended the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009 till 8 December. CAT 2009 was scheduled to run for 10 days from 28 November to 7 December 2009.

As part of our planned contingency, Prometric prepared the registration and scheduling system to accommodate volumes in excess of the projected number of candidates to ensure any additional demand can be fulfilled. The CAT 2009 has been extended to accommodate, within this year’s testing period, all the registered candidates to whom the test has yet to be delivered as scheduled. Some testing labs (Note: one test centre could have several labs) have experienced technical difficulties mainly on the account of viruses and malware. Majority of these issues have been identified and eradicated, however Prometric, in partnership with NIIT, is continuing to monitor and assess all labs. In the event that testing is not possible for any session at specific labs, affected candidates will be contacted via SMS and email the day before. Rescheduling of these candidates will then be initiated and new appointments communicated again via SMS and email.

On 8 December (Day 11), CAT 2009 will be held over one morning session in 20 cities. These cities are: Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Pune and Varanasi.

In response to feedback from candidates, Prometric has extended the hours for the CAT Candidate Care (1800 103 9293), added more telephone lines and Candidate Care agents to accommodate the high volume of calls. Effective 3 December, the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) and phone support will be available everyday from 8am - 8pm throughout the testing period.

CAT troubles continues for day four, aspirants flay IIMs 'laxity'

Many aspirants for the competitive Common Admission Test (CAT), including those unable to take the online computerised test in the past three days due to technical snags, were left in the lurch on the fourth consecutive day Tuesday, and blamed lax communication and management by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

The competitive CAT exam that went online for the first time this year ran into trouble again when a computer crash stalled the exam at centres in cities like Lucknow, Delhi and Bhopal.

'Students at Delhi, Bhopal and Lucknow have called us saying they could not give the exam. Many of them are the rescheduled candidates,' Ulhas Vairagkar, director of the TIME coaching institute told IANS.

Candidates outside the SMS college centre at Lucknow said they were facing a harrowing time, coming to different re-alloted centres time and again with no guarantee that they would be able to take the test.

'I was to give the CAT in the morning slot two days back. After waiting for over two hours, we were told that because of technical problems there would be no exam. Late in the evening I got an SMS saying I should go to another institute. I went yesterday (Monday) but again the CAT exam was suspended,' Neeraj Prasad, a CAT candidate, told IANS over the phone from Lucknow.

He complained that the entire batch of around 60 candidates had been going to re-designated centres for the past two days but were unable to take the exam.

CAT Aspirants Face Problems

On Monday December 1st 2009, some of the city management aspirants writing the common admission test (CAT) faced some minor problems when three of the computers got shutdown at the Indian Institute of Business Management (IIBM) examination centre.

Fortunately, this had nothing to do with server problem as reported from many other cities in the country. It had happened due to voltage fluctuation.

"We addressed the problem in less than 10 minutes and examinees sitting on these three computers wrote the test without much problem," an IIBM office-bearer told TOI.

In Bihar, there are just two CAT examination centres — Indian Institute of Business Management (IIBM), Buddha Marg, and Zakir Hussain Institute (ZHI), Hartali Chowk.

With CAT test going on-line from this year, the said test would take place for 10 days with aspirants allotted different dates in accordance with the space availability at different examination centres.
